We use a variety of tried and tested processes in order to get the look you want. We typically grind the concrete surface with a heavy, high torque machine using varying levels of coarse to fine diamond segments. The machines used are accompanied by a high horsepower, dustless vacuum system which creates a clean, non-hazardous and environmentally friendly process. Our finished results are a strong, great looking, easy to clean and low maintenance floor available in matte, semi-gloss and gloss finishes.
Benefits of Polished Concrete Floors
The process of concrete grinding, densifying and polishing the surface to eliminate dust from efflorescence that may cause many epoxies and coatings to fail.
The process of densifying and polishing to tighten the molecular structure of the concrete. This reduces porosity protecting the surface from water, oil, chemicals, grease, and heat.
Densification increases the strength and long-term performance of your polished concrete floors.
Enhanced Light Reflection
Polishing/closing the pores in the concrete causing light to reflect off the surface.
A reflective surface allows wall colours into the surface enhancing the decorative appearance.

Grind and Seal Polished Concrete
Grind and seal polished concrete is a budget-friendly alternative to mechanically polished concrete (MPC).
Concrete grinding removes any surface contaminants and exposes the aggregate. The finished product has a similar look to MPC but the shine or gloss is from the sealer only. When you have a large space and want to dress things up on a budget this is a great option. With any sealed floor, the topcoat is sacrificial – these floors will require maintenance.
The general rule of thumb for a coated floor is 5-6 years. After this time the surface will need to be re-sealed. Signature Substrates offers a large range of suitable sealers including solvent and water-based options.

Residential Concrete Polishing
Whether you're building a new home or doing renovations, you will need to consider your flooring options. Polished concrete floors are increasing in popularity for kitchens, bathrooms and garages as it's low maintenance, easy to clean and allergy friendly. Plus it looks great! A glossier polish will be more reflective and make the room brighter, or you can opt for a matte finish if you prefer.
Commercial Polished Concrete Floors
There are many commercial applications for polished concrete floors, from large warehouses to department stores, workshops, offices and commercial kitchens. A long lasting and low maintenance option, polished concrete flooring is resistant to spills and stains, hard wearing and high quality.
Honed Concrete VS Polished Concrete
Concrete honing and concrete polishing are sometimes mistakenly considered the same thing but there is a difference. Honed concrete undergoes the concrete grinding process but not to the refined state that a polished concrete floor experiences. A sealant is then placed over the concrete as a barrier. This will eventually wear down and will need to be sanded back and then a new sealant applied.
The difference doesn't just end there. Polished concrete is much more refined and considered a premium flooring option. It incorporates grouting process and the use of chemical hardners which improve the floors appearance and durability.
