The Floor Stripping Process

Traditional floor stripping can be done in one of two ways.

The first is with the use of our heavy floor stripping machines, operated from both behind and ride-on, to remove the current floor coverings. Our machines and professional staff are experienced in stripping floors such as ceramic tiles, timber flooring, vinyl flooring, cork tiles, and direct stick carpet.

Once the floor covering has been removed, Signature Substrates then use specialist concrete grinding equipment to remove tile glue and carpet adhesive. We do this to correctly prepare the surface for another floor covering of your choice, such as polished concrete, industrial concrete coating; Epoxy Screed, Flake coating or non-slippery floor coating.

The second way of stripping the floors involves removing floor coatings and concrete sealers using a concrete grinding machine in conjunction with sandblasting and a shot blasting method, or by using chemical strippers.

It’s important to note that the removal of sealers and coatings is a job not to be taken lightly if it’s done correctly, and it’s not something that should be done without the correct tools and equipment.

We have access to some of the largest and most productive machinery in the industry which allows us to work on large-scale projects efficiently.

Recently, Signature Substrates removed 1100m2 of direct stick carpet in a commercial setting within 12 hours. This exercise saved our client thousands of dollars in additional labour and we were proud to be part of that job.
